Strengthen your immune systsem - Naturally Recovering AutismHolidaze

During the holidays we tend to eat too many sweets which weaken our immune system. As much as we may enjoy the festivities our daily routines become even busier, we tend to get stressed and we don’t always get as much sleep as we need.

Strengthen Your Immune System

It is important to keep immunity strong, especially during the cold and flu season. Up to eighty percent of the immune system comes from the digestive tract. Poor eating habits, including too much sugar, will weaken the immune system. When we eat sugar and drink alcohol in excess, that feeds the bad bacteria in our gut such as candida albicans or yeast. Candida thrives on sugar! When candida is overgrown, it substantially weakens our immune system and increases the body’s toxic load. Get your free guide to the top seven foods to eliminate from the diet to begin reducing the inflammation and toxic burden.

Probiotics And Omega 3

A key supplement that will assist the immune system and the gut are probiotics. Probiotics will assist in fighting both flu viruses and colds by building the strength of the necessary, healthy bacteria in the digestive tract. They will also help to crowd out the bad overgrown bacteria such as candida albicans.

Omega 3 fatty acids reduce inflammation in the GI tract and feed the brain the fats it needs to work properly.

Support Your Liver

The liver must be supported to assist with the burden of toxicity. There is a liquid product called Liver Detoxification Pathways Elixir that is excellent for this. It supports both phase I and phase II of liver detoxification to help remove toxins from the body and strengthen the liver. Start slowly, and work your way up to the recommended dosage.

Vitamin D3

Vitamin D3 is essential for fighting both viral and bacterial infections. We get our Vitamin D from the sun, so in the winter months, we become especially depleted. Vitamin D3 is especially important in fighting viruses and is a far safer choice in fighting the flu than mercury-based immunizations that only cover one strain of influenza.

A 2009 pediatric research journal stated that children and infants deficient in Vitamin D are more susceptible to viral infections. There are many correlations between respiratory infections and low levels of Vitamin D. Another 2009 study showed newborns with acute respiratory infection were born to mothers who were deficient in Vitamin D, especially in the winter months. Vitamin D deficiency is also linked to asthma in children, and it is necessary for proper neurological functioning.

How do you know how much Vitamin D3 to take? The formula is:

(basic daily vitamin D dosage) = (body mass in pounds) x 27

Twenty seven IU is the amount of daily vitamin D needed to keep blood levels at their optimum of 50ng/ml without getting any sunlight.

For example, the basic daily Vitamin D dosage for a 50-pound child would be 50 x 27 = 1,350 IU per day. It is not uncommon for a person to become depleted and need to build their levels back up. Many adults will need up to 5000 iu per day in the winter months as they become depleted. When we become sick we can double the normal dosage for a few days to boost the immune system. Sublingual sprays or drops are the most easily absorbed.

Cod liver oil gives us our needed Vitamin A and Vitamin D together in one liquid form.  Just be sure to get enough D! It is necessary for a strong immune system, healthy digestion, and vision.

B Vitamins

The B vitamins help with stress. Vitamin B12, specifically methyl B12, has many specific functions including reviving methylation or aiding in detoxification, and building red blood cells. Vitamin B12 is necessary for digestion, food absorption, protein synthesis, DNA synthesis, protection of the myelin sheath (nerve tissue coverings), and metabolizing of fats and carbohydrates.  It also helps to build the master antioxidant glutathione. Vitamin methyl B12 comes in many tasty sublingual tabs that melt under the tongue, or as liquid drops. It is best in these forms for proper absorption.

Glutathione

Glutathione is known as the body’s master antioxidant. Glutathione boosts our immune system. It is the best cellular detoxifier. Autism clearly improves with cellular detoxification. Glutathione also reduces viruses in cells, helps to chelate heavy metals (especially mercury), and protects our cells and our neurological system from free radical damage. Glutathione also regulates protein and the building blocks of DNA.

Glutathione is a naturally occurring protein that is found in every cell of the body including the brain. With the necessary three amino acids—cysteine, glutamic acid, and glycine—glutathione can be made by our cells.

In some people, glutathione can be difficult for the cells to make. Candida disrupts protein digestion, which reduces glutathione production. Pathogenic bacteria in the gut can destroy enzymes. Glutathione cannot do its job if there is not enough Vitamin D.

When purchasing  glutathione, it is important to get the lipoceutical or liposomal form. A liposome is like a little bubble that keeps the molecules inside it safe, stable, and active.  Lipoceutical glutathione is in its reduced state, and antioxidants must be in their reduced state to be effective. This is one of  the only absorbable forms of glutathione. It comes in a liquid sublingual form which is best. You can purchase a quality lipoceutical glutathione here.

Vitamin E &C

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant. Vitamin E as d-alpha tocopherol succinate is the most potent antioxidant form of the vitamin. It is also the form that enters the brain most easily to combat free radical damage and lipid peroxidation. Vitamin C is always essential.  Vitamin C works synergistically with Vitamin E, which means these two vitamins work far better together than they do alone. A great liposomal vitamin C can be found here.

Additionally…

Additional  aids to the immune system are grapeseed extract,  echinacea, goldenseal (especially helpful for the mucous membranes), elderberry, and zinc. Alpha-lipoic acid is another powerful antioxidant. It supports the life of glutathione,  and glutathione in return supports and strengthens alpha-lipoic acid.

Homeopathics

A homeopathic product that is extremely helpful when you are fighting the flu virus is Oscillococcinum by Boiron. It is sold in all health food stores and in many mainstream stores of all kinds. A homeopathic tincture that helps when you are fighting a bacterial cold is Bacteriotox from Apex Energetics. I get this from my natural practitioner.

Put It All Together Easily

Keep your sugar intake to a minimum. A good multivitamin plus antioxidant formula is beneficial. Support your organ of detoxification, the liver. Be sure that daily you are taking probiotics, enough Vitamin D, a Vitamin B complex, Vitamin B12 metylcobalamin sublingual drops or tabs, and Vitamins A, C,and E. Lipoceutical glutathione can be helpful for an added boost.

And, remember to always drink plenty of pure, filtered water every day.
