Have you ever felt that you needed to “put up a wall” to protect yourself in a negative situation? Dr. Bradley Nelson refers to this as a “Heart Wall”. Once this ‘wall’ has been formed around your heart for protection it can build up and become stronger over time. With this protection comes a price. When our heart has been closed off as an emotional or psychological means of protection from negative feelings coming in, it is also closed off to allow incoming positive feelings such as love, and our ability to connect with others. The consequences can be quite harmful to an individual both physically and emotionally.
Dr. Bradley Nelson has trained and certified more than 5,000 Emotion Code practitioners in 77 countries, teaching them how to identify and release trapped emotions that harm health and relationships. He discovered what has been called “the most important discovery in the history of energy medicine” – the Heart-Wall™ – an energetic barrier of multiple trapped emotions that prevents people from freely giving and receiving love that contributes to loneliness, sadness and emotional isolation.
Dr. Nelson notes, “The Heart-Wall, created by the subconscious mind, is also made of energy. It just happens to be made of a specific sort of energy, the energy of trapped emotions.”
We may even be consciously working to deal with our emotions the best we can, yet our subconscious has been driven to protect us, so it works tirelessly to build a wall of protection around our heart to protect us from more harm.
Trapped emotions can create a wall around your heart, blocking your ability to give and receive love. These symbolic meanings can have real physical consequences. In my last podcast episode on Tapping acupressure points to assist emotional balancing, we discussed the part of the brain called the amygdala which is our center for the fight or flight response. Children with autism often have an overactive amygdala, therefore, they tend to live in this response unless it is calmed.
“Your subconscious mind – which knows no limitations – will sometimes use the energy of these trapped emotions to create a barrier or shield around your heart. Literally, it creates a wall of energy around your heart, to protect it.” Dr. Bradley Nelson
A quote from Dr. Nelson’s book, “The Emotion Code” on the Heart-Brain Connection:
Your heart generates 60 to 1000 times more power and electromagnetic energy than your brain, easily making it the most powerful organ in your body. When you were in the womb, your heart was formed first, before your brain. Your heart beats about 100,000 times a day, 40 million times a year, and if its connection to your brain were severed, it would keep right on beating.
Your heart is the core of your being, the core of who you really are.
New research shows that your heart is much more than a mere pump. In the 1970s, scientists learned that the heart has an elaborate nervous system, a discovery that has led to the creation of a new branch of medicine known as neurocardiology. The fact is, we all have two brains. Much to these scientists’ surprise, they discovered that the brains in our heads are obeying messages sent by “the brains in our hearts.”
Scientists have discovered that the electromagnetic signals radiating from your heart are actually detectable in the brain waves of another person. This phenomenon is strongest when two people are touching or are in close proximity but is measurable at a distance as well.(1)
Children and Heart Walls
Since 1995, Dr. Bradley Nelson, has lectured internationally on alleviating chronic and incurable diseases through energy work, and restoring balance to the 6 key elements of health in the body. In 2009, he channeled his life’s work into a simple yet powerful self-study course known as The Body Code system. During this time, Dr. Nelson shares that his personal observation has been that every child with autism has a heart wall!
Releasing a Heart Wall helps us grow in many ways and in Dr. Nelson’s work he has found that this release is often followed by a profound experience of connection with other people.
Think how tender and open a child’s heart is when they are little. They are helpless and trusting, and far too often, they are the victims of predatory or abusive adults and sometimes even cruel children. In these cases, Heart-Walls are always found. Excerpt from the book, “The Emotion Code”.
Finding and Releasing the Heart-Wall
Heart Walls can be “hidden” to protect against being found and released since the protective mechanism in the subconscious is so strong.
Dr. Nelson says, “My experience is that about 80% of the general public will test positive for a Heart-Wall. Sometimes when we’re looking for a trapped emotion with the emotion code work the body may say that it doesn’t have any trapped emotions, when in reality it does. The Heart-Wall has the effect of making all trapped emotions a little harder to find.”

Over decades of work as a holistic chiropractic physician, Dr. Brad discerned that most of the physical discomfort and emotional distress his patients suffered was rooted in trapped emotions, the unseen emotional baggage we all carry from hurtful life experiences.
Through his studies of ancient medical practice and modern quantum physics, Dr. Brad developed The Emotion Code®, a simple yet powerfully effective method anyone can learn to release the trapped emotions that block us from wellness.
“I have always been driven to empower people to help themselves, and I began teaching seminars to do just that in 1998,” he says. “I have been all over the world teaching The Emotion Code, and it is spreading like wildfire now, all over the globe.”
